Labor & Employment Law
Michael L. Barras, APLC is committed to helping employees fight against illegal employment discrimination and retaliation and to assist employees in exposing companies’ fraudulent practices committed against the government. We strive to protect our clients’ rights and practice in the following areas of employment law:
- Fraud against the government: If you know of fraud committed against the government, such as Medicare and Medicaid Fraud, we can help you file a claim which can bring you a percentage of part of any funds recovered on behalf of the government. Such actions are specifically authorized under several Federal Laws.
- Sexual Harassment & Discrimination: If you experience sexual harassment; unwanted, inappropriate physical touching; or exposure to pornography or other sexual misconduct at work, your employer may have violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. And, you have the right to make the harassment stop and to pursue a claim against your harasser and-or employer.
- Race, Color & National Origin Harassment & Discrimination: If you have been harassed or discriminated against because of the color of your skin, your ethnicity, or where you were born, the employer may have violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. We can help you determine the appropriate course of action and pursue the appropriate remedy.
- Age Discrimination: Workers who are 40 years of age and older are susceptible to adverse employment action, unwarranted discipline, harassing conduct, and discrimination based on age. Employers are prohibited from engaging in such action under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.
- Retaliation: If you experienced workplace retaliation after opposing or reporting discrimination or harassment, we may be able to help you get just compensation.
